Holding an old object, I begin to day dream, where did this item come from? What is the history of the item? Then I think - well what can I do with it now? Before I know it I loose all sense of time and I feel inspired and compelled to create.
My intrigue over old bits and pieces that have a story and bringing them a new life in the form of art that you can either wear, or use to decorate your home or garden is a challenge and always an adventure for me. Kim Critzer has been creating fused glass and mixed media art for over 13 years under the name of 3 Wishes Studio. Kim has been known for her lighthearted and tropically inspired creations. A year of adventure and soul searching has motivated her to launch a new line of designs. Here you will find a collection of these new creations.

Greetings y'all - those that are familiar with my art know of my love of bold colors and anything that is associated with a tropical locale - these are the things that have influenced my art for many years, but you may not know about the other side of me.
I love a good treasure hunt, digging around in an old building or a stash of junk in a flea market. I also go on nature walks in the woods surrounding my property and dig up buried treasure.
I love to travel to far away places and yet I hate to be away from home. I'm inspired by old architectural elements, rusty metal and aged wood. I enjoy taking photos during my travels and my nature walks. I find beauty through the lens in everyday objects. I'm also a pack-rat and a some day dreamer - meaning that I save things that I find hoping to some day create something using that item. Finally after many years of dreaming about creating little pieces of art with found objects, and my photography I am on an adventure to make all these dreams a reality. The name Steam Whistle Designs came from all these interests as well as the fact that my husband and I have a collection of old steam whistles.

3 Wishes Studio - home to Steam Whistle Designs
Steam Whistle Designs is a product line of 3 Wishes Studio. The studio is located in Palmyra, Va and is open to the public by contacting Kim to schedule an appointment.
The studio is located in a tranquil country setting. Under the shade of the pecan trees you will find an old building that has been given a new lease on life with bold strokes of color and whimsy, and yet retains a sense of history. Inside the studio creativity runs wild with abandon and joy. Not far from the studio, follow the path that leads you to the collection of old Steam Whistles. Cover your ears as the whistles are blown - they can be heard from over 10 miles away! The sound is both haunting and exhilarating. The blast will surge in your chest and you will be carried away to another time and place.
